Reject Secession, Biafara and Re-Structuring, Agitate for 20 Years’ Nigeria’s Blue Print
No country on the surface of this earth developed simply because of secession or restructuring of the country. The development of a country is done by carefully developing a short, mid and long term blue print. Subsequently, the blue print is religiously implemented by hardworking, honest and incorruptible leaders. Those at the forefront of the secession agitations in Nigeria lack these qualities and none of them have blue print of how they intend to develop their region at the post secession, Biafara or restructuring. I have not seen any well prepared blue print with time lines and milestone credited to any of the groups promoting the agitations.
The development of Europe after world war II was a result of hard work, honest and excellent leadership. The development of Singapore is attributed to excellent leadership of Lee Kwan Yew not because of their secession from Malaysia, today Singapore has the best airport in the world. The development of Malaysia is attributed to the excellent and honest leadership of Dr. Muhammed Mahathir, Malaysia is now the 7 tourist’s destination in the world, second largest producers of palm oil and has the tallest twin towers in the world. Dr. Muhammed Mahathir is still alive and I had the opportunity to pray with him in a mosque in Kuala Lumpur. Development of China is attributed to excellent leadership and penalty for an act of corruption is dead.
South Sudan clamoured for secession from Sudan without any concrete plans for post secession. No blue print to develop south-Sudan in case they succeed and leadership was not defined during the agitation for south Sudan. After years of clamouring for southern Sudan, they succeeded. Due to lack of well-prepared blue print, honest and hardworking leaders, the south Sudan broke into war after secession. Up till now as I write this article south Sudan have nothing to show except hunger, extreme poverty, war and devastating economy. Gambia is another sad story, Gambia secession is from Senegambia (now Senegal) with their leader Yahaya Jame that spend 22 years in power with nothing to show to the world, up to today Gambia depends on technical aid corps from Nigeria to run their economy. I can go on and on!!!
As such, Nigerians should rather clamour for 20 years’ developmental blue print with time lines and milestones instead of agitating for secession/Biara/restructure or whatever name they called it. Presently, Nigeria don’t have such blue print that can lead the country to the promised land.
I rest my case.
