Dr JUNAID AND THE PUNCH.
But it's just ok. Because the newspaper must go for the kind of sources who promote their defined, written or unwritten, editorial policy. But like most times, they rubbished the guy and also rubbished their sense of judgement in their report, which I am certain, was a product of blind haste to demean the President.
The Punch was deliberate in error to call Junaid a "Northern Elder". But when has the North become so bankrupt of people with a combination of age, experience, dignity, decorum, integrity and wisdom to start adopting people of Junaid's caliber as elders? He is NOT a Northern elder. Punch editors must be notified by someone. And I just did.
But the major goof does not lie in the above deliberate ignorance. Junaid called the President a liar (the word liar is not used by me) and further said, (and I quote) “Some of the claims the President made were clearly dishonest. For example, he claimed that his agricultural policies have been a success. As far as I am concerned, that cannot be true because I don’t even know the policies"!
How can a confused source like that ever be our leader? Northern leaders do not abuse abuse people in authority because they do not like them. They have a firm belief that leaders are representatives of God on earth. But they can criticise their policies. In the case of Junaid, he is criticising and putting to lie something he does not even know in the first instance. He said so himself in the above quotation. Northern elders are not that ninny. They are just, they have faith, they have decorum and they know God! As for Dr Junaid, I can only see him aboard a very strange train on the course of imminent derail.
